Tryp Habana Libre Hotel recently expanded its art collection with the addition of a mural painted by artists from the “Somos lo que hay Project”, in commemoration of the 49th anniversary of one of the most emblematic hotels of the Cuban capital. The fresco was placed in the lobby, alongside the entrance to the Barracon restaurant. The Tryp Habana Libre has one of the most representative collections of contemporary Cuban art, which includes a still life mural on the frontispiece of the hotel; Clepsydra, a sculpture by Rita Longa in the lobby and paintings by Rene Portocarrero, Mariano Rodriguez, Servando Cabrera and Alfredo Sosabravo.
The “Somos lo que hay Project” is coordinated by Emilio Nunez and gathers artists from different generations and esthetics such as Nelson Dominguez, Lian y Li Dominguez Fong, Esteban y Alejandro Leyva, Ever Fonseca, Ernesto Garcia Peña, Eduardo Roca, Juan Moreira, Alicia Leal, Javier Guerra, Sandor Gonzalez, Manuel Comas, Herminio Escalona, Vicente R. Bonachea, Kike Wong, Enrique de la Uz, Rafael Perez Alonso, Eduardo Abela and Mayito Gonzalez.
